Grant
Thornton

May 2015 to July 2020

As part of Grant Thornton’s national proposal development group, theStudio, my primary responsibility is to manage the development and delivery of B2B pursuit deliverables including proposals, presentation aids and auxiliary materials. This process, from start to finish, involves bridging the gap between win themes, detailed technical information, industry climate, stakeholder preferences and restrictions placed on content, format and timing. As Grant Thornton is a global accounting and advisory firm, my pursuits have ranged from small, strategic pursuits with 1-2 Grant Thornton stakeholder teams to multi-national corporations whose Grant Thornton teams span a dozen countries with varying regulatory standards. The end results contain sensitive and/or confidential information like internal strategies, acquisition targets and fees, and are therefore not available to share openly.

In addition, I lead a team of five other proposal writers in developing a digital deliverable practice with the goal of pushing beyond the current standards of the industry. For my efforts, I was given the Marketing Brilliance Award: Catalyst by the firm in December 2018 — an award recognizing the individual within the national marketing organization that pushed most effectively towards greater organizational change.

A major iterative goal of the task force is to more formally utilize user experience processes to determine problems, set goals and develop solutions to meet client/prospect needs as they shift between industries, markets and business environments. In order to push the breadth and depth of our digital practice, I pursue skills not standard to my primary role and collaborating with cross-disciplinary specialists regularly. Aside from self-study, I have also pursued course-led education and received a certification in UX Design from Springboard in August 2019.

In September 2019, our digital task force completed a major project that took our processes back to the data collection process through to developing a new prototype to better serve Grant Thornton’s highest priority clients. A case study detailing the entire process is available here.
